IRON BACTERIA
Iron Bacteria occurs in ground water. These bacteria produce accumulations of slimy material and deposit iron. The combined effect of the growth of these organisms and the deposition of materials can completely plug a well in a relatively short time. Chlorination is an effective method of controlling iron bacteria. The chlorine kills the bacteria destroying the slime deposits on the well screens and in the surrounding aquifer. |
